Continental launches AllCharge universal charging technology for all types of electric

According to a report by the British media on January 8th, the "AllCharge All-Round Charge" technology of the German automaker's auto parts maker will enable electric vehicles to use any cable charging piles to charge the car's batteries for DC and AC.

Continental Group introduced two charging systems for electric vehicles at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. "Almighty charging" is similar to the universal charger for electric vehicles and is applicable to various cable charging posts. Continental will provide the system to automakers so that they can integrate the technology into their models and plans to begin production in 2022.

At present, the existing charging technology converts AC power into DC power from the transmission grid to charge the vehicle. This kind of conversion generally occurs in the charging pile (DC) or in the car (AC), and the construction cost of the fast DC charging pile is higher. This has led to different cars using different charging standards. In order to enable future cars to be charged on any charging pile, Continental engineers have modified the electric engine and inverter power supply to make the engine and inverter power supply increase the number of DC/DC converters that guarantee the best performance by ensuring battery current. Supports charging so that the system can use either DC charging poles or AC charging poles.

This means that electric vehicles can use DC and AC power at the same time. Using AC power, it can reach 43 kilowatts, providing 50 miles of electricity in only 10 minutes; and the 800-volt quick-charge pile can provide 300 miles of electricity in 10 minutes.

Bryan McKay, director of the North American Division's Power Systems Technology and Innovation Center, said that the “universal system” will support the return of electricity for the use of home appliances, and that this technology will continue to change for the future to meet the 350 kWh charge. Infrastructure guarantees. The Continental Group also disclosed the details of the wireless charging system so that electric vehicles can be charged without using cables. The car can be quickly charged through the underground charging box. The 11-kilowatt charging rate is a charge of 12.5 miles for a car in 20 minutes.
