Anti-corrosion wood decoration balcony terrace should pay attention to the problem

Anti-corrosion wood is an excellent choice for outdoor projects, especially in areas with high humidity or frequent rainfall. It is typically made from pine and treated with preservatives to protect against decay, insect damage, and microbial erosion. However, it's important to handle and install this material properly to ensure its longevity.

When installing anti-corrosion wood on a balcony or terrace, make sure to leave space between the boards and the ground. This allows for proper air circulation, which helps prevent moisture buildup and makes cleaning easier. If any debris falls into the gaps, it can be easily removed without damaging the surface. Also, keeping the boards spaced apart enhances the overall aesthetics of the installation.

Proper storage is crucial for preserving the quality of anti-corrosion wood. Always store it in a dry, well-ventilated area and avoid direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can degrade the protective treatment. During construction, try to use the wood in its original dimensions as much as possible. If cutting or drilling is necessary, apply CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) preservative to the cut ends to maintain the wood’s durability and resistance to decay.

Since anti-corrosion wood is a semi-finished product, you can sand the rough edges after installation to achieve a smoother finish. It's also recommended to reduce the moisture content of the wood to below 20% before applying any coatings. For better protection and appearance, consider applying an outdoor-grade protective coating after cleaning the surface. Make sure to mix the color thoroughly if you're using a colored sealant.

If you're painting or sealing the wood, avoid walking on it or placing heavy objects on it for at least 48 hours. This gives the protective layer time to fully cure and prevents damage. For even better stain resistance, you may want to apply a special outdoor wood oil treatment after the initial coating has dried.

When building a deck or terrace, using longer planks can help reduce the number of joints, resulting in a cleaner and more professional look. Leave a gap of 5–10 mm between each board and always use hot-dipped galvanized Screws or stainless steel hardware for all connections. These materials are resistant to rust and will ensure the structural integrity of your project over time.
