Bathtub Faucet,Tub Faucet,Delta Tub Faucet,Delta Bathtub Faucet Heshan Janno Kitchen and Bath Technology Co.,Ltd , https://www.janno-ks.com In light of the existing disparities in the quality standards of ceramic faucet seals for bathroom hardware products and their impact on market sales, the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Standardization is working on new guidelines.
It is noted that the current standards for the appearance quality, pipe thread precision, cold and hot water markings, flow rate, sealing performance, cold and hot fatigue tests, and valve body strength of ceramic seal faucets align with the national standard GB18145-2003. However, with the rapid evolution of the sanitary ware industry, new materials and technologies are being widely adopted, creating discrepancies between the current national standard and products available on the market.
As a key player in developing national and industry standards, the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Standardization has organized an expert team to conduct field research at companies. According to Chen Xuezhang, many firms struggle to meet the requirements of the current national standard. He explained that some provisions are too broad and do not account for advancements in new technologies. For instance, the salt spray test requirement might be relaxed from the 10th level to the 9th level. However, such changes need careful consideration to ensure they don’t compromise product quality. He emphasized that the refinement of standards remains crucial, suggesting a classification system where products meeting basic standards would be deemed qualified, while those surpassing higher benchmarks could be labeled as premium or superior products.
Ding Yanfei, a senior engineer at Huayi Sanitary Certification, highlighted how raw materials and technology directly influence user health. He noted that stricter national standards help regulate the bathroom industry and guide consumer choices. With years of experience in obtaining certifications worldwide, Huayi Sanitary has learned that different countries have varying requirements. For example, European Union countries impose strict limits on non-metallic microorganism growth, while Australia focuses on detecting zinc leaching, microbial growth, and water efficiency in faucets. Meanwhile, the U.S. and Canada emphasize heavy metal precipitation, and South Korea’s KS certification is particularly rigorous, integrating global regulations and standards. Only a few companies globally, including Huayi, manage to pass these stringent tests.
Chen Han, a sales manager at Huayi Sanitary, proposed that introducing new standards may initially cause disruptions within the industry. Ideally, he suggested a 3:3:3 ratio, where one-third of companies easily comply, another third improve through effort, and the remaining third are phased out. This approach would encourage market progress and ultimately benefit consumers.
With growing emphasis on water conservation policies and environmental awareness, water-saving products are becoming a focal point for relevant authorities. Consumers are also paying closer attention to both water efficiency and product quality. Recently, the AQSIQ, Ministry of Water Resources, and National Water Conservation Office jointly reported on spot-check results for water-saving products, revealing nearly 60 unqualified items. Similarly, CCTV’s "Weekly Quality Report" featured a segment highlighting quality issues in water-saving toilets and faucets, listing 12 substandard products, including several well-known brands. These regulatory actions underscore the increasing rigor in supervising water-saving product quality.
