Method for processing calcium hydrogen phosphate

Calcium hydrogen phosphate is primarily produced using phosphate ore as the main raw material through a chemical processing method. There are two main approaches: the thermal method and the wet method. The thermal method involves using an electric furnace to process yellow phosphorus into phosphoric acid, which is then used to produce calcium hydrogen phosphate. This method is typically energy-intensive and often results in higher production costs. However, it has been widely used in the past due to its simplicity and the availability of raw materials. On the other hand, the wet method is more commonly used today. It starts with decomposing phosphate rock using inorganic acids such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or nitric acid to create an aqueous phosphoric acid solution. After that, impurities like sulfur and other harmful substances are removed through various purification techniques. The purified phosphoric acid is then reacted with calcium sources such as lime milk or lime powder to form calcium hydrogen phosphate. The wet method can be further categorized based on the type of acid used—such as the sulfuric acid method, hydrochloric acid method, or nitric acid method. Among these, the sulfuric acid method is the most widely applied due to its cost-effectiveness and efficiency. Compared to the thermal method, the wet method offers several advantages. It consumes less energy, reduces production costs by approximately 25%, generates less pollution, requires lower initial investment, and allows for easier modernization of production facilities. These benefits have made the wet method the preferred choice in the industry today. As the demand for calcium hydrogen phosphate continues to grow, especially in the feed and agricultural sectors, the development and optimization of the wet method remain a key focus for manufacturers aiming to improve efficiency and sustainability.
