Shorten machining cycle with 4-axis chuck lathe (2)

Both spindles working in the machining area are serviced by their own turret or combination tool. Combination tools are generally used for the production of large parts. The standard turret generally has 8 stations, while the turret with 10 stations can have active tools of up to 5 stations. The use of active tools should depend on the time required for drilling, tapping and other machining operations. Mr. Camloh said: “If this period of time occupies a large part of the overall machining cycle, then non-turning on the milling machine will have more significance. This will make the value of the parts reduce the time of loading time disappear. For example, in the case of a short overall machining cycle, the new workpiece loading time of 15s is of great significance. However, for a longer machining cycle, including active tool operations, this 15 s time is less important.

Typical turning application range

4-axis chuck lathes are not necessarily only suitable for the processing of large batches of workpieces. Mr. Camloh said: “The chuck lathe is also suitable for batch processing of about 500 pieces.” The usual processing applications for this chuck lathe are as follows:

One type of part can be turned in one of all four chucks (AA/AA);

Simultaneously turning a side A of one part in one chuck and turning the B side of the same part in another chuck (AB/AB);

At the same time, the A side of one part is turned in two chucks, and the B side of the same part is turned in the other two chucks (AA/BB).

Especially in the case where the machining cycles of the A side and the B side are relatively long and the machining operation is unbalanced, the lathe using the 4-axis design form is most effective for the processing of the last example described above. Consider the iron cover processing listed in the table. The A-side turning, boring and eccentric drilling cycles for these parts are 59 s, while the B-side boring and end machining cycles are 23 s. The part loading time is 12s. If one spindle of a two-axis lathe is used to machine the A side of the part and the other spindle is machined to the B side of the same part, the main axis of the B side is idle for 36 s. It must wait for another spindle to complete a machining operation for up to 59 seconds. As can be seen from this example, it takes 71s to complete the machining of a part because the overall machining cycle is equal to the longest machining operation time plus the assembly time of the part.

On the other hand, when the 4-axis chuck lathe is performing AA/BB machining operations, the overall machining cycle is based on the average machining cycle of the A and B faces. When the A side of the two parts is machined, the bracket indexes the remaining two spindles and begins the B side machining of the other two parts. As can be seen from this example, it takes 85 s for each part to be machined. This shows that the machining time for each part is 42.5 s. In addition, the spindle utilization of the 4-axis chuck lathe is 98%, while the spindle utilization of the twin-axis lathe is only 32%.

Concrete Drilling Drill Bit

Concrete Drilling Drill Bit usually consists of Masonry Drill Bit, SDS Plus Drill Bit, SDS Max Drill Bit, etc.

Drill bits for drilling masonry, (brick and concrete) can be identified and distinguished from other drill bits by the blunt wide blade on the tip.

There are many different designs of masonry drill and you usually get what you pay for.
