Soundproof Rock Wool Board

High-density rock wool boards used in partition walls are commonly known as "sound-proof rock wool."

This material is typically used for sound insulation in lightweight walls. A standard structure of such a wall includes:

Gypsum board (one or more layers) + framework (keel) + rock wool board + gypsum board (one or more layers).

In this setup, the rock wool board serves as a sound-absorbing layer. It absorbs sound waves that pass through the gypsum board, reducing the back-and-forth reflection of sound within the cavity formed between the plasterboard, keel, and the rock wool board. This helps improve the overall sound insulation performance of the wall.

Studies have shown that using rock wool boards with a density of 80-150 kg/m³ can enhance the sound insulation of a lightweight wall by 8 to 15 decibels compared to using rock wool alone without the gypsum board.

It's important to note that not all rock wool products on the market are suitable for soundproofing applications.

The special rock wool boards designed for soundproof partitions are developed specifically for acoustic optimization in light-weight walls. These boards have been carefully engineered to provide superior sound insulation while maintaining structural integrity.

Density plays a key role in this. The ideal density for soundproof rock wool boards is between 100-200 kg/m³, which ensures optimal sound absorption and mechanical strength. In contrast, most rock wool sold in building markets has a density of less than 60 kg/m³, making it soft, prone to sagging, and ineffective at sound insulation over time.

Another factor is the slag content. Unlike generic rock wool, the specialized version controls the size and distribution of slag particles to enhance sound wave scattering and reflection, improving soundproofing performance. Low-quality rock wool often leads to uneven density, creating soundproofing gaps.

Adhesive usage is also critical. High-quality soundproof rock wool boards use minimal adhesive during high-temperature pressing, preserving fire resistance and structural integrity. Lower-grade products tend to use excessive glue, which weakens fire safety and causes sagging.

Finally, dimensions matter. The specialized rock wool boards for soundproof walls are manufactured in standard widths like 800mm, 600mm, and 400mm, making them easier to install without cutting, thus reducing dust and irritation for workers. Most generic rock wool requires cutting on-site, which is inefficient and messy.

With these optimized features, the special rock wool board for soundproof partitions can improve the sound insulation of lightweight walls by more than 10 decibels, offering a reliable and effective solution for acoustic management in construction projects.
