The difference between automotive laser welding and traditional welding

Welding is an indispensable process in the assembly line of automobiles. The car body is a block combination of metal members and covers. Various prefabricated structural components such as windshield frame, door pillar, front and rear fenders, front and rear panels and roof are assembled by welding or riveting. According to different parts and production requirements, a variety of welding techniques are used in the automotive industry, and many welding techniques include flash welding and pulse welding.

In recent years, laser welding technology has also emerged, and it has developed rapidly. Some car bodies manufactured in China are also welded with laser welding technology. Laser welding technology uses a polarizer to reflect the laser beam and concentrate it in the focusing device to produce a beam of great energy. If the laser beam is close to the component, the component will melt and evaporate within a few milliseconds. Can be used in the welding process. The characteristic of laser welding is that the welded parts have little deformation, and there is almost no gap after welding, and the welding quality is higher than the conventional welding method. However, since laser welding has great difficulty in process control and electrical processing, the technical requirements for laser welding in the post-maintenance processing are very high, and it is rarely used in maintenance.
