Effective application of dendritic polymers in sustained release of pesticides

Dendritic polymers offer significant advantages over traditional pesticides, especially in terms of sustained release. First, they enhance solubility and reduce the overall amount of active ingredients needed. Second, they minimize environmental loss, improve pesticide utilization efficiency, and ultimately lower the required dosage. Third, these polymers improve the adhesion of pesticides to plant surfaces, increasing retention time and prolonging their effectiveness. Fourth, they enhance the penetration of pesticides into plant tissues or pests, thereby boosting their overall efficacy. Fifth, dendritic structures allow for controlled release rates, making the formulation more functional and energy-efficient. Sixth, a single application can provide long-term effects, reducing the need for frequent reapplication. Lastly, they are highly resistant to rain and weather conditions, offering greater environmental stability. In practical applications, dendrimer-based carriers such as CYD-MD844, CYD-MD1384, and CYD-MD2524 have been successfully used to deliver herbicides like 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). These studies demonstrated that dendrimers effectively coat the herbicide, significantly improving its sustained release performance. In crop trials, the dendrimer-encapsulated 2,4-D showed a drug retention period that was 2 to 4 times longer than conventional formulations. Additionally, it exhibited excellent resistance to rain and weather, maintaining stability over extended periods. The release duration could be controlled and reached up to 1 to 3 months, making it a promising solution for sustainable agricultural practices.
