Herbicide for different stages of autumn radish field

In autumn, radishes are widely cultivated in fields, and effective weed management is essential for optimal growth. To control weeds, farmers can apply herbicides depending on the growth stage of the crop. According to information from the **China Pesticide Network**, there are several recommended practices for chemical weeding. Before sowing, soil treatment is a common approach. For this, you can use 48% trifluralin emulsifiable concentrate at 100–150 ml per mu, 48% dimethenamid-P EC at 200 ml, 33% pendimethalin emulsifiable concentrate at 100–150 ml, or 50% acetochlor emulsion at 75–150 ml. These should be mixed with 50 kg of water and sprayed evenly over the soil. It's important to note that trifluralin is sensitive to light and can volatilize quickly, reducing its effectiveness. Therefore, after application, the soil should be lightly incorporated by tilling 2–3 cm deep. These herbicides are particularly effective against grasses like foxtail and broadleaf weeds such as clover and vetch. For post-emergence soil treatment after sowing, options include 48% clomazone EC at 200 ml, 25% oxadiazon EC at 100 ml, 20% metolachlor EC at 700–1000 ml, 50% chlorpyrifos WP at 60 g, 48% trifluralin EC at 100–150 ml, 72% metolachlor EC at 100–200 ml, 50% benfuresate WP at 100–200 g, all diluted in 50–75 kg of water and applied to the soil surface. These formulations work well on both monocot and some dicot weeds. After the plants have emerged and developed their stems and leaves, foliar treatments are recommended. You can use 10.8% high-efficiency haloxyfop EC at 20–35 ml, 10% quizalofop-ethyl EC at 50–80 ml, or 35% fenoxaprop-ethyl EC at 50–80 ml, each mixed with 50 kg of water. These herbicides target grassy weeds with 3–5 leaves, providing effective control when applied correctly. Proper timing and application methods are crucial for maximizing the efficacy of these pesticides while minimizing environmental impact. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines when handling agrochemicals.
