The author recently spoke with a vegetable farmer from Xiyang Village, Xiajin County, Shandong Province. The farmer mentioned that he had applied a fertilizer called diammonium phosphate a few days ago. He used about 15 to 20 kilograms per mu and placed it close to the cucumber roots, around 10 to 20 cm away. However, now nearly half of the cucumber plants in the field are showing signs of wilting. What could be causing this issue? After listening to the farmer’s account, the author suspected that the damage might have been caused by applying the fertilizer too close to the roots, leading to root burn or chemical injury. To address the problem, the following preventive measures were suggested: First, the farmer should water the field thoroughly. Since the area is sandy soil, which drains quickly, watering will help dilute the fertilizer concentration in the soil and reduce its harmful effects on the cucumber plants. Additionally, spraying the plants with a solution such as "Love More than Harvest" diluted at 6000 times or "Yunda 120" can help neutralize any phytotoxic effects from the fertilizer and strengthen the plant's resistance, allowing it to recover more quickly. To prevent future fertilizer damage, several effective strategies can be implemented: Applying organic fertilizers in the field helps create organic colloids during decomposition. These colloids have strong adsorption properties for cations, which can bind to the fertilizer ions in the soil and reduce their concentration in the soil solution, thus preventing excessive buildup and minimizing the risk of fertilizer burn. When applying chemical fertilizers, it is important to do so in controlled amounts and at appropriate concentrations. For example, ammonium carbonate should not exceed 30 kg per acre, ammonium sulfate no more than 20 kg, and urea should be limited to 10 kg per acre. For even distribution, farmers should use layered or deep application methods to ensure the fertilizer is evenly mixed into the soil. This helps avoid concentrated pockets of fertilizer that could harm the roots. Also, proper irrigation after fertilization is crucial to maintain moisture and prevent high salt concentrations that may lead to root damage.    Wang Deming , Vegetable Bureau, Xiajin County, Shandong Province    Square Rain Shower Head,Single Function Square Top Spray,Rain Shower Set,Plastic Shower Head ASHOWER , https://www.ashower.com
