The author recently spoke with a vegetable farmer from Xiyang Village, Xiliu Village, Xiajin County, Shandong Province. The farmer mentioned that he had applied a fertilizer called diammonium phosphate a few days ago. He used about 15 to 20 kilograms per mu and placed it close to the cucumber roots, around 10 to 20 centimeters away. However, now nearly half of the cucumber plants in his field are showing signs of wilting. What could be causing this? After listening to the farmer's account, the author suspected that the wilting might be due to fertilizer burn caused by applying the fertilizer too close to the roots. To help mitigate the issue, the following measures were suggested: First, he should water the field thoroughly. Since Xiyang Village is located on sandy soil, which drains quickly, watering heavily can help dilute the soil solution and reduce the concentration of fertilizers. This will also help push the fertilizer deeper into the soil, minimizing its direct contact with the roots. Second, he should spray the cucumbers with a solution to counteract any potential phytotoxic effects. A recommended option is to use a product like Love More than Harvest or Yunda at a dilution ratio of 6000 times. This can help boost the plant’s resistance and promote recovery. In addition, there are several preventive steps to avoid fertilizer damage in the future: Applying organic fertilizer can significantly improve soil structure. As the organic matter decomposes, it forms organic colloids that have a strong ability to adsorb cations. When chemical fertilizers are applied, these cations are absorbed by the colloids, reducing the overall concentration of the soil solution and preventing excessive buildup that can harm the plants. It is also important to apply fertilizers in controlled amounts and at appropriate concentrations. For example, ammonium carbonate should not exceed 30 kg per acre, ammonium sulfate no more than 20 kg, and urea should not go beyond 10 kg. These limits help prevent over-fertilization and reduce the risk of damage. When applying fertilizer to vegetable fields, it is best to use a layered or deep application method to ensure even distribution throughout the root zone. It’s also essential to water the field after fertilizing to maintain moisture and further dilute the nutrient concentration in the soil.    Wang Deming, Vegetable Bureau, Xiajin County, Shandong Province    Pull-Down Spray,Kitchen Single Handle Pull Down Spray,Single Handle With Pull Down Sprayer,Plastic Pull Down Kitchen Faucet ASHOWER , https://www.ashower.com
