About assessing the cost performance of T5 energy-saving lamps

When considering the adoption of high-performance T5 replacement fluorescent lamp technology, it's important to understand that this is a direct substitute for traditional lighting solutions like T8 lamps. To evaluate the overall value and performance of these T5 lamps, several key factors should be taken into account:

First, the lighting effect and quality are crucial. The color rendering index (CRI) is a key indicator, with a standard of R=100 for natural light. High-performance T5 lamps should have a CRI of at least R=85. A higher CRI means better color accuracy and a more natural appearance of objects under the light. Additionally, the electronic ballast should operate at a frequency above 40 kHz to reduce flicker. The stroboscopic effect should be below 5%, ensuring stable and consistent illumination without any harmful flashing.

Second, power consumption and energy efficiency are essential. The power replacement ratio should be at least 1:1.6W, meaning that the new T5 lamp uses less power while providing better lighting. This translates to an energy savings rate of over 40%, making it a cost-effective upgrade.

Third, environmental adaptability is important. T5 lamps should function reliably in a wide range of conditions, including voltages from 150V to 260V, and in environments where the temperature ranges from -15°C to 105°C. They should also perform well in areas with significant electrical harmonics or unstable power grids.

Fourth, the lifespan and failure rate are critical indicators of reliability. High-performance T5 lamps should have an average life of 10,000 to 20,000 hours, with a failure rate of no more than 5%. This ensures long-term value and minimal maintenance costs.

Fifth, the light decay period—also known as the lumen maintenance rate—is another important factor. After 10,000 hours of operation, the light output should remain at least 85% of its original level, indicating good durability and consistent performance over time.

Finally, the payback period is a practical consideration. If used for 10 hours per day, the investment in T5 lamps should be recovered within six months, making them a financially sound choice for both residential and commercial applications.
