Recently, the third China Chongqing Vocational Skills Competition, specifically the electromechanical integration project, kicked off at the Chongqing Institute of Industrial Technicians. This marks the first time the competition has adopted technical standards and processes from the WorldSkills Championships, aiming to cultivate more skilled professionals for the city's growing industrial sector. The event not only showcases the latest in vocational training but also emphasizes international benchmarks in skill development. In the afternoon session of the electromechanical project, 20 participants were divided into teams of two. Each team was tasked with completing five key operations, including working with a six-axis industrial robot and a touch screen interface. The final challenge involved assembling an automated drug dispensing production line. Liu Junhua, one of the competitors, is also a maintenance electrician at Chongqing Weichai Engine Factory. He shared that the parts used in the competition are similar to those he works with daily in the factory, which requires precision and attention to detail. "In the factory, there are many components that come into direct contact with us, so careful installation is essential," he said. He added that the operational guidelines in the competition are even more strict than those on the job. Shen Yue, a judge for the competition, emphasized the importance of safety and adherence to procedures. "Safety is the top priority in this competition. Every participant must follow strict operational norms," Shen said. As an example, he mentioned that all competitors are required to wear insulated shoes, and female participants must wear headgear. "Any illegal operation will result in point deductions, and in severe cases, disqualification," he warned. This reflects the high standards expected in both professional and competitive environments.
