Expert opinion: Most robots do not yet have artificial intelligence

China has successively proposed a “machine substitution” strategy in Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Guangdong, and has given financial subsidies. Some companies have achieved gratifying economic benefits in machine substitution, but they have also caused some controversy: What types of enterprises, what types of work, and what conditions need to use robots instead of labor?

Manufacturing is very complicated, and its manufacturing equipment is very different in different products, different batches, and different production environments. To solve production automation and intelligence, we must not rely on robots instead of labor to solve problems. To improve production efficiency, we must first solve the automation, intelligence, and networking of manufacturing equipment, and use robots where robots are suitable.

Enterprises must plan from the height of development strategy, see the direction clearly, understand the gains and losses of interests, and must not blindly pursue automation. The first place to use robots is those that require high labor intensity, poor production environment, outstanding production safety problems, and low production efficiency. For example, riveting, casting and forging, explosive production, dangerous goods production, frequent heavy load handling, and mass assembly require robots first. In short, with and without the robot, it is necessary to carry out investment benefit analysis, human resource cost analysis and safety risk analysis, because the use of robots requires the use of advanced skilled workers.

Moreover, the robot production line does not equal you to achieve smart manufacturing. General industrial robots, which can only work rigidly according to the procedures prescribed by people, no matter what changes in external conditions, they can not adjust the program, that is, the work done. If you want to change the work done by the robot, you must make corresponding changes to the program, so it is not smart, and the production line composed of such robots is not an intelligent manufacturing system.

In addition, the scope of intelligent manufacturing is large, including intelligent design, intelligent products, intelligent management, intelligent decision-making, and intelligent manufacturing. In terms of smart manufacturing, what kind of robot production line is the production line of intelligent manufacturing? First of all, robots must have the ability of perception, recognition, self-learning, reasoning and judgment like human beings. They have the function of self-correction and decision-making according to changes in external conditions. As an entire production line, it is necessary to have an intelligent management and control system, to sense the logistics status, quality, and failure of the processing object, to optimize the scheduling according to the production requirements, and to coordinate the work between the robots, which is enough for intelligent manufacturing. Otherwise it is an automated production line that has existed decades ago.

I have several suggestions for how to make smart manufacturing.

First, the overall plan is implemented step by step.

To build an intelligent manufacturing system, a smart factory is a long-term, arduous, and complex system project. It must be planned in accordance with the principles of “overall planning, step-by-step implementation, key breakthroughs, and efficiency first”. First of all, we must incorporate it into the long-term development strategy of the company. What is the vision of enterprise development in 5-10 years? What kind of company do we want to be? What position do we occupy in a particular area, both domestically and internationally? Formulate the strategic goal of long-term development of the company and grasp the main line of acquiring the core competitiveness of the enterprise, so as to know what kind of products, what kind of manufacturing technology, what kind of business model and what kind of service we need to innovate. Under the guidance of such clear strategic objectives, the overall plan will be formulated, the bottlenecks restricting the development of enterprises will be analyzed, the sequence will be discharged, and the goals and contents of the phases will be formulated.

The second is to grasp the main line of acquiring the core competitiveness of sustainable development of enterprises.

What is the core competitiveness of a company's sustainable development, it can create high value for customers, surpass competitors, and it is difficult to copy and imitate the competitiveness. Price-price competition has never been able to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, and the competitive advantage of introducing a new technology or new product is not sustainable. Embracing the Internet, taking the road of intelligent manufacturing, and gradually realizing the R&D and design intelligence, product intelligence, business management intelligence, manufacturing intelligence, service intelligence, and decision-making intelligence, this is the development direction of the manufacturing industry.

Third, intelligent manufacturing also requires investment benefit analysis.

Building an automated, intelligent factory is costly. It is intelligent and intelligent. It is impossible to conduct investment benefit analysis. China's labor costs are rising year by year, but still low compared with developed countries. In some of the company's production activities, there are still many activities that are more reasonable and cheaper than using machines. We must first select those links that are good in quality, efficiency, and safety, and do not blindly pursue total automation and intelligence. Enterprises must do their best according to their own situation, the stage of development, the level of technology and economic strength.
