The IEA stated that the commercial production of Ugandan oil will begin as early as next year. Tullow Petroleum of the United Kingdom has already signed two major production sharing contracts with the Ugandan government.
According to IEA, the Jubilee offshore oil field in Ghana, operated by Tullow Petroleum, began production in December 2010. The average production of the oil field is expected to reach 88,000 barrels per day, and Tullow Petroleum predicts that the output of the field will reach 9 in December 2012. 10,000 barrels/day will reach 105,000 barrels/day in 2013. The output of Aseng Oilfield, operated by Nobel Energy, has increased slightly. The average production in the first quarter of 2012 will reach 55,000 barrels per day, making oil production in Equatorial Guinea reach 290,000 barrels per day. The oil field went into production in June 2011.
