Stainless steel and heat resistant steel heat treatment

Cleaning:

1. The workpiece and fixture should be cleaned of oil, residual salt, paint and other foreign objects before heat treatment.

2. The fixture used for the first time in the vacuum furnace shall be degassed and purified in advance at a vacuum not lower than the required vacuum of the workpiece.

Furnace:

1. The workpiece that is easily deformed during the heat treatment should be heated on a special fixture.

2. The workpiece should be placed in the effective heating zone

Preheating:

1. For workpieces with complex shapes or sharp changes in section and large effective thickness, preheating should be carried out.

2. The preheating method is: one preheating is 800?C, the second preheating is 500~550?C and 850?C, and the temperature of one preheating temperature should be limited.

heating:

1. Workpieces, castings and weldments with not-through holes and machined stainless steel workpieces are generally not suitable for heating in salt bath furnaces

2. The workpiece should be heated for a sufficient holding time, which can be calculated according to the effective thickness of the workpiece and the conditional thickness (the actual thickness multiplied by the shape factor of the workpiece) with reference to Table 5-16 and Table 5-17.

cool down:

1. When martensitic stainless steel heat-resistant steel is air-cooled, it should be placed in a dry place.

2. Martensitic stainless steel and heat-resistant steel can be cleaned, cryogenically treated or tempered after quenching to room temperature

3. After the workpiece is quenched, it should be tempered in time. The time interval should not exceed 4h. The carbon content of the steel used in the workpiece (the mass fraction of carbon) is low, and the shape of the workpiece is simple and should not exceed 16h.

4. For welded assemblies consisting of martensitic stainless steel and heat-resistant steel, the time interval between welding and subsequent heat treatment shall not exceed 4 h.

Clean up:

1. According to the requirements of the workpiece and the surface condition, it is cleaned by alkaline washing, water-soluble cleaning agent, chlorine solvent blasting, shot peening, etc.

2. Generally not cleaned by pickling

Correction:

1. The workpiece is corrected by static load, and it is generally not suitable for local tapping.

2. After stress correction, stress relief annealing should be performed below the original tempering temperature.

3. Complicated workpieces with complex shapes or dimensional requirements, corrected for tempering with tempered fixtures combined with tempering

4. Austenitic stainless steel workpiece, after stress correction after 300 ° C

Quality inspection:

1. The workpiece is inspected according to the items and requirements specified in the corresponding technical documents.

2. When the mechanical properties of the workpiece are unqualified, the heat treatment may be repeated, but the number of repeated quenching or solid solution is generally not more than two times. Supplementary tempering of the workpiece is not counted as repeated processing

3. Martensitic stainless steel and heat-resistant steel workpieces after quenching or low-temperature tempering, preheating, annealing or high temperature tempering before repeated quenching

4. The original heat treatment record should be properly kept for reference.

When the workpiece is heat treated, it must comply with the relevant provisions of JB4406-87 "Heat Treatment Safety Technology"
