The locomotive has its own "treadmill"

China's first high-power electric locomotive complete vehicle test bench, successfully commissioned in Wuhan Wuhan Railway Bureau's Wuhan high-power locomotive maintenance section, will be put into use in July. It can replace the line operation test of the harmonious high-power electric locomotive after overhaul, greatly save the occupation time of the railway transportation line, reduce the risk of trial operation, and fill the blank that must be put on the line for the locomotive trial operation.

According to the person in charge of the maintenance section, the test bench is a complete vehicle test system developed by Wuhan High-powered locomotive maintenance section and Beijing Railway Engineering Electromechanical Technology Research Institute. The maximum test load can reach 9600kW. The system can be used to simulate the test items of the locomotive line trial operation in the warehouse. The locomotive can find its dynamic faults without leaving the house. Thus it is aptly called the locomotive "treadmill".

The test bench is mainly used for the traction power test and electric brake power test after the maintenance of the harmonious electric locomotive. It consists of four parts: the foundation pit device, the electrical equipment area, the noise reduction ventilation device and the central operation room. The electric power sealing technology, the locomotive and the test bench form mutual exchange on the primary side of the contact net, and the energy consumption generated by the test can be sent back to the power grid through feedback, which greatly reduces the energy consumption of the test, and adopts the lifting rim track and the program control. The electronically controlled wheelbase adjustment technology can quickly complete the upper and lower test positions of the locomotive, and is suitable for the rapid adjustment of the test wheelbase of 7 different wheelbase models such as HXD1B, HXD2, HXD2B and HXD3. The test rig can complete the trial operation of the locomotive two times a day, which can meet the needs of the inspection and transportation of 466 locomotives.
